There was a contest for the branch’s PBB Women deputy chairperson’s seat between incumbent Jamelah Imit who is also Kampung Pa’ Dris PBB Women sub-branch chief, and Councillor Zaiton Abdul Kader. The former won the election. The Nangka PBB Women chief is still Sharifah Aminah Syed Junaidi.

The AGM was attended by 350 local PBB, PBB Youth and PBB Women members.

Meanwhile, Dr Annuar disclosed that several resolutions were passed during the AGM.

“Among them was the call to retain Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg as party (PBB) president.

“Another important resolution, which was unanimously passed, was the urgent call for the allocation of land for housing among the party members by opening up more ‘kampung’ (village) extensions to replace those taken up for township development,” he said.

Dr Annuar, who is also Assistant Minister of Housing and Public Health, also stressed about the need for every political party to undergo a democratic process – the election of a leader.

“This, however, should not be regarded as a contest to merely to win a post. It is a process for a party member to offer to serve the party through means of democracy.”
