KUCHING: Head of the Women Wing of Parti Keadilan Rakyat ( PKR) Krian, Sylenthia Musa John, has resigned from the party after being courted by a lobbyist to work together with him to serve the people under the Barisan Nasional ( BN) umbrella.

“I am the best man to win Saratok for Barisan Nasional,” declared Dr James Chella, one of the many lobbyists working hard on the ground to win the BN ticket to contest under Progressive Democratic Party ( PDP).

Dr James is no political greenhorn; he was the sidekick of former Saratok MP Jelaing Mersat for many years before opting to go into oblivion after his friend’s retirement.

“I have courted many Parti Keadilan Rakyat ( PKR) supporters to join me to work for the people. I told them the need for us not to be represented by the opposition at both State Legislative Assembly and Parliament.

“I can win in Krian, Kalaka and Kabong. The worst for me in Krian is to draw with the opposition. In fact, all other past candidates Datuk Seri Edmund Langgu, Datuk Peter Tinggom and Jelaing Mersat secured victory in Krian, but not the incumbent,” he elaborated.

Being a local boy, Dr James believes much more has to be done for Saratok, especially for the people living in the interior.

“I don’t have business agenda. I just want to serve the people. I have enough for myself. All five of my children are medical doctors.

“Three of them were trained in Ireland while the other two locally. My eldest is still in Dublin now furthering his study to be a cardiologist, number two in Lahad Datu, third in Sandakan general hospital while number

four and five are now housemen in Kota Kinabalu,” added Dr James, whose wife is a dentist.

Dr James stressed that he just wants to work for the Rakyat ( people) to provide better infrastructure, help to realise the centralisation of all underperforming rural schools and bring things back to normal in Saratok.

“I will be inclusive. I will not sack Tuai Rumah (village chiefs) who go against me or disagree with me. I will talk to people who do not agree with me. I believe they will support me eventually if I prove to them that I am working hard for them. Enough with animosity,” he stressed.

He claimed that he offered himself as BN candidate for the 14th general election in Saratok because the grassroots had been appealing to him to enter politics.

“Yes, now I am based in Lawas. If they pick me as a candidate, my son will take over my clinic in Lawas. I will move to Kuching and be stationed in Saratok as a full-time politician,” he said.

When asked what makes the Krian assemblyman popular among the Saratok populace, Dr James said his likely opponent is a very good man.

“Ali Biju is a good man. He is being honest with the people. When he got no money, he told the Rakyat frankly. The Rakyat prefer that honesty, not lies and empty promises.

“On my part, I will do slightly more than telling the truth that I have no money.

“I will do paperwork for the project required by the people, and source for the funds from the relevant ministry. With a good paperwork and proposal, I am sure the funds for the project will be approved by the government,” he explained.

“As MP, one must work hard. I will be working very hard for them,” Dr James Chella added.
