Temporary barrier sought to prevent erosion
MIRI: Kampung Batu Satu Lutong villagers have called on the authorities to place a temporary barrier, such as one made of boulders, to prevent further damage at the village from stormy waves.

waves would knock down their boatsheds,” he told The Borneo Post yesterday.
According to him, the Kampung Batu Satu to Kuala Baram road was also not accessible as it was under up to four feet of seawater.
He said the carpet in the village surau was soaked by the encroaching seawater.
According to Abdul, the villagers had previously called for an L-shaped retaining wall to prevent the waves from entering through the water access point but this was not carried out.
“Now this storm and high waves occurring suddenly show the urgent need for this retaining wall to be built,” he added.
Fauzi Mob from Kampung Muhibbah, Kuala Baram also called for a temporary barrier to prevent seawater from flooding the road.
“Please do it immediately for the safety of villagers because last night ( Tuesday), the flood at the road was high and vehicles couldn’t cross,” he said.
More than 30 fishing boats were moved to higher ground, with some parked on the road.
