ATM needs staff, officers with knowledge and expertise in various fields – Johari
KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) officers and staff are encouraged to further their studies to gain more knowledge in related areas and equip themselves to face future challenges and possible threats.
Deputy Defence Minister Datuk Seri Johari Baharum said the ATM required its staff and officers to be highly- skilled in various fields.
“In this ever- challenging era, we need officers with vast knowledge in all areas, especially on global issues.
“War tactics now are very different from before so we have to encourage them to enhance their knowledge,” he told a press conference after the Armed Forces Defence College ( MPAT) diploma presentation ceremony series 3/2017 here yesterday.
A total of 44 students comprising staff of ATM, Public Service Department, the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency, as well as armed forces staff from other countries received their diploma after completing the course.
Also present were ATM chief Tan Sri Raja Mohamed Affandi Raja Mohamed Noor, Army chief Gen Tan Sri Zulkiple Kassim, Air Force chief General Tan Sri Affendi Buang and Navy chief Admiral Tan Sri Ahmad Kamarulzaman Ahmad Badaruddin.
In another development, Johari said the ATM would introduce a national defence course once the National Defence Studies Centre ( Puspahanas) is completed next year.
The new course will give added value to civil service officers who equip themselves with knowledge in defence and security areas, he added. — Bernama
