Palestine taking non-violent measures to address dispute with Israel

-

HANOI: The Palestinian administration is choosing nonviolent measures to address the Palestine-Israel disputes, the Vietnam News Agency ( VNA) reported Palestinian Ambassador to Vietnam, Saadi Salama, as saying here on Tuesday.

He said Palestine was uniting its forces and political organisations to seek a common voice on the issue. Affirming the national rights and human rights of Palestinians, he said they have been political and legal realities for long according to international law.

The US’ recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel does not represent the opinion of the international community, Salama said, reiterating that Jerusalem was an inseparable part of Palestine.

He also said Palestine welcomed the international community’s commitment to international law on Palestinians’ human rights.

On Dec 7, US President Donald Trump unilaterally recognised Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and announced plans to move the US embassy there from Tel Aviv.

Vietnamese Foreign Ministry’s spokeswoman Le Thi Thu Hang on Dec 8 expressed concern that the decision could harm peace and stability in the Middle East.

Noting that Vietnam has friendly relations with all Middle East nations, including Palestine and Israel, Hang said Vietnam welcomed all regional and international efforts to peacefully deal with all conflicts and bring sustained peace to the Middle East, for the interests and development of all countries in the region.

Vietnam also reiterated its stance on supporting a twostate solution, including the establishment of a Palestinian state co- existing in peace with the Israeli state along the before-1967 border line. — Bernama
