-

KUCHING: The increase in population and vehicles as well the development of a particular area has its impact on the environment and packed the city with cars.

The provision of parking space is one of the municipal issues to be given serious attention as most of the city centres have been flooded with private vehicles. The Kuching City North Commission is constantly looking at this issue to create a comfortable and safe city.

As the Local Authority ( PBT) mandated to administer North Kuching, DBKU will implement Coupon Car Park System (SLKB) effective Tuesday, Jan 2, 2018 in 19 commercial centres.

The areas include Batu 1 1/2, Jalan Keretapi ( Lorong Sg Maong Ulu 3), Jalan Semarak ( Bemmers), Jalan Sungai Maong Ulu ( Ministry of Health, Railway), Jalan Sungai Maong Hilir ( Sungai Maong Hawkers Centre) and Sejingkat Industrial Park ( Demak Laut Commercial Centre).

Other areas included are Green Road ( Shoplot 2608 & 2609), Road Rubber ( Independent Tourism Office), Gold Jade Road ( Shoplot 2646 – 2649), Demak Laut Industrial Park, Jalan Tun Ahmad Zaidi Adruce ( CL Khoon electrical equipment store), Jalan Tun Ahmad Zaidi Adruce ( Shop area around Forda) and Badruddin Road ( at the head of Badruddin Road Police Headquarters)

Also in the list are Istana Road ( Phase II RPR shop / Astana Clinic), Jalan Kulas ( Shophouse – SME Bank / PTPTN / AGRO Bank / Rich & Toast), Junction Jalan Istana / Jalan Matang ( PJ Pharmacy Jalan Semarak), Jalan Semarak (Adie / Tinju), Jalan Tun Ahmad Zaidi Adruce ( Regalis Court / Perodua), Gold Jade Road (4D Shop), and Jalan Semarak ( State Registration Office / CNI)

With limited number of parking spaces in the commercial centres above, the coupon system will prevent vehicles from taking the parking space for loading for too long, and allow the public to have equal opportunity to park their vehicles.
