Ministry holds farewell dinner for Ik Pahon

KUCHING: The Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports Ministry hosted a dinner to say goodbye to the ministry’s outgoing permanent secretary Datu Ik Pahon Joyik on Wednesday.

During his speech at the dinner, Ik Pahon extended his thanks to the staff of the ministry for their cooperatio­n during the eight years he was with the ministry, which made it possible for the ministry to perform well.

In appreciati­on of his service, he received a memento from Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah during the event.

Abdul Karim praised Ik Pahon for his work with the ministry, describing him as a person who has vast experience and will certainly do a great job as permanent secretary of another ministry.

“Ik Pahon has been dedicated in serving this ministry. I believe that everyone in this ministry has felt comfortabl­e working with him,” added Abdul Karim.

Ik Pahon is now the permanent secretary of the Ministry of Modernisat­ion of Agricultur­e, Native Land and Regional Developmen­t.

Former Sibu Resident Hii Chang Kee is now the Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports Ministry new permanent secretary.

Also present during the dinner were Assistant Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Datuk Lee Kim Shin and Assistant Minister of Youth and Sports Datuk Snowdan Lawan.
