Over 200 have signed up for Sibu Tower Run

SIBU: Over 200 people have signed up for the 2nd edition of Sibu Tower Run which will be held at Sanyan Building on March 11.

They included those from outside Sibu including from Peninsular Malaysia.

The run is organised by Undergroun­d Runners Sibu (UGR) Club in collaborat­ion with Sibu Municipal Council.

Runners will run two rounds around Sibu Town Square Phase I and II; Chuan Corridor-LKH Hospital Memorial Museum and the waterfront before proceeding up the staircases of the 28-storey (126m) Sanyan Building.

UGR chairman Zamri Kiprawi said for security reasons, the Tower Run is limited to 350 runners.

“The special entry fee at RM70 for early birds is no longer applicable. Those registerin­g between now and Feb 4 need to pay the normal fee of RM80. After that, the fee is RM90,” he said.

For the prize structure, Zamri said the champion will receive RM800 while the first runner-up will bag RM400 and the second runner-up, RM300.

It is RM100 for the fourth and fifth winners. The sixth to 10th placed runners will each get RM50.

All runners who complete the full distance will receive a certificat­e of participat­ion.
