Dearth of credible candidates for PM’s post in PH — Shahrizat

-

KUALA LUMPUR: The choice of 93 year- old former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad as the Pakatan Harapan ( PH) candidate for the prime minister’s post shows a dearth of credible candidates within the opposition.

Wanita Barisan Nasional ( BN) chairman Tan Sri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil said the choice of Dr Mahathir, who was the prime minister for 22 years, was surprising since he was heckled by the DAP and PKR leaders for allegedly destroying democracy and oppressing the people.

“Now, Pakatan Harapan seems to forget all their allegations, hatred and insults against Tun Mahathir and choose the chairman of a newly formed party as their candidate for the prime minister’s post. They are manipulating the people’s emotions and minds to win the 14th General Election (GE14) ,” she said in a statement here, yesterday.

On Sunday, PH named Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia ( PPBM) chairman Tun Dr Mahathir as their candidate for prime minister while Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail was named as the candidate for deputy prime minister if they won GE14.

Shahrizat, who is also Wanita Umno chief reminded the people, especially the younger generation, to be mindful of PH’s political game to win GE14 for the personal interests of its leaders.

“National development and addressing the people’s grievances are not the main agenda of Pakatan Harapan. This is unlike the Barisan Nasional which is always consistent to ensure national stability and the people’s wellbeing.” — Bernama
