-

KLUANG: The Defence Ministry is committed to ensuring that the education agenda for the children of members of the Malaysian Armed Forces ( MAF), the veterans and civilian staff is enhanced from time to time.

Its minister, Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein said the education agenda which covered the provision of educational facilities and access to quality education, would not be carried out seasonally but continuously.

“In this regard, we have launched the Defence Ministry Education Blueprint 2018- 2022 today under the ‘Jelajah Perkasa Perwira’ initiative.

“The MAF and Defence Ministry are also touched by the presence of Education Minister Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid and Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak at this launch. This shows that the Defence Ministry is on the right track in looking after the fate and welfare of the MAF community, particularly in the field of education.”

He said this to reporters after launching the blueprint at the 5th Battallion, Royal Malay Regiment camp, here.

Hishammuddin, who is also Minister with Special Functions, said he was proud that the blueprint involving collaboration with the Education Ministry, Communications and Multimedia Ministry, Rural and Regional Development Ministry, and Women, Family and Community Development under the National Blue Ocean Strategy which was being drawn up since early last year had become a reality for implementation.

He said among the objectives were improving the educational infrastructure at the armed forces camps and improving the education services through welfare initiatives.

Hishammuddin, who is also the MP for Sembrong, said the facilities of 38 schools in the camps would be maintained and improved, while nine of the primary schools would be upgraded into excellent schools. — Bernama
