Eric Tsang threatens to sue over fresh rape allegations

-

HONG KONG: TVB producer Eric Tsang has threatened to sue over fresh allegations that he had raped an actress some 30 years ago during a drunken romp in Singapore.

Former actress Yammie Lam, 50, who had left showbiz in 2004, is again in the spotlight after the resurfacing of an old video in which she made the allegations against Alan Tang and Eric Tsang.

The video was filmed and released by the Hong Kong-based gossip magazine Next Magazine in 2013. In the clip, a newsman asks Yammie if Tang had raped her:

Yammie: Why would I lie to you? It happened about 20 or 30 years ago.

Newsman: Why did Tsang rape you?

Yammie: I thought he was drunk and probably possessed by a demon at that moment.

According to Yammie, it happened in Singapore. Since then, she had attempted suicide on several occasions.

The news made some headlines in 2013, but the original video, which has been viewed nearly 2.3 million times on YouTube, concealed the alleged offenders’ names.

In 2014, Hong Kong-based media personality and businessman Xiao Ruoyuan, also known as Stephen Shiu, disclosed that the two suspects were Alan Tang, who died in 2011 of a heart attack, and Eric Tsang.

Last Tuesday, writing on Weibo, Tsang threatened to sue.

In response, Han Yinghua, former Asia Pacific president of the US-based Ford Modelling Agency, retorted on Weibo that Yammie is not the only victim of Tsang’s behaviour.

Wrote Han: “This trash has sexually assaulted female entertainers for more than once. Everyone in showbiz knows it.”

Yammie’s career had fizzled out in the mid-1990s as she struggling with mental issues. In 2006, she was declared bankrupt and has since been living on state monthly welfare of HK$ 3,700 ( RM1,892).
