Bidayuh reps to join hands to deliver for BN, assures Manyin
KUCHING: All Bidayuh elected representatives regardless of their political parties have agreed to work together to deliver the Bidayuh constituencies for Barisan Nasional (BN) come the 14th General Election (GE14).
They have also affirmed that they would contest under the ticket of BN irrespective of the political parties they come from, said Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) vice president Dato Sri Michael Manyin Jawong.
“For instance, Datuk Dr Jerip (Susil) contested in Mambong (last state election) not under the logo of either SUPP (Sarawak United Peoples’ Party) or UPP (United People’s Party) but representing the Bidayuh community for BN.
“That is what we are doing, that no party politics and we use BN logo only. We put somebody who is credible and will deliver the seat for BN,” he said before Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg launched the PBB Zone 3 meeting at Dayak Bidayuh National Association (DBNA) here yesterday.
PBB Zone 3 consists of six branches namely Serembu, Mambong, Tarat, Tebedu, Kedup and Bukit Semuja.
Manyin, who is Minister of Education, Science and Technological Research, pointed out that the Bidayuh community would give their unwavering support to Abang Johari, who celebrated his first anniversary as Sarawak’s sixth Chief Minister yesterday.
The Tebedu assemblyman said the Bidayuhs “are all out with you (Abang Johari)” while looking forward to more initiatives being done for the community.
Manyin said the Bidayuh community would rally behind the chief minister’s digital economy policy to transform Sarawak into a developed state.
He was pleased that the state government would upgrade the cyber infrastructure across the state particularly in the rural areas in order to transform its economy.
He also recapped that Abang Johari had allocated RM1 billion to upgrade such infrastructure to enhance the Internet speed besides setting up Petroleum Sarawak Bhd (Petros) and Development Bank of Sarawak (DBoS).
“He also told Kuala Lumpur that we need fund to repair and rebuild many dilapidated schools in Sarawak, to which the federal government has given RM1 billion,” added Manyin.
According to him, some Bidayuh villages in rural areas still have no access to proper road as well as power and water supply.
As such, he called upon Abang Johari to look into this matter and do the necessary to improve the lifestyle of the community.
“Some Bidayuhs in rural areas are still not connected. There is no road for them and their villages are not equipped with electricity and water supply.
“I hope all these can be addressed and solved in the shortest possible time,” he said.
