PH Sarawak all for Dr M to return as PM

-

KUCHING: Pakatan Harapan (PH) Sarawak is fully behind Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad returning to lead the country as prime minister should the coalition take over the government after the 14th general election (GE14).

PH Sarawak also fully endorsed having Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail as deputy prime minister, and seeking a royal pardon for PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

PH Sarawak chairman and state Democratic Action Party (DAP) chairman Chong Chieng Jen announced the endorsements together with PKR Sarawak chairman Baru Bian and Parti Amanah Negara Sarawak chairman Fidzuan Zaidi at a press conference yesterday.

“To topple Umno, there is no better person than Tun Mahathir. He has the respect and confidence of the rural Malays, which many other leaders in PH lack,” said Chong.

He said PH has made history by announcing its candidate for prime minister before the elections and also reached an agreement on seat allocations before the dissolution of Parliament and nomination day.

“For those who are suspicious of Tun Mahathir’s intentions, let’s rest assured that he cannot dominate over all the other parties. Unlike Umno in BN, PPBM (Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia) only contests 52 seats in the coming GE,” said Chong.

Baru praised Dr Mahathir for having strong leadership capabilities.

He also said Dr Mahathir is able to unite opposition parties as well as win the hearts of rural voters, especially in Peninsular Malaysia.

Under the PH parliamentary seat allocation agreement, PKR will get 51 seats, DAP – 35, and Parti Amanah Negara – 27.
