Business community urged to help make VMY 2018 a success

MIRI: The Miri City Council (MCC) encourages the business community here to participat­e actively in tourism promotion for the resort city.

Miri mayor Adam Yii said support from the business community is crucial to make Visit Miri Year (VMY 2018) a success, when officiatin­g at the 17th Miri Trade Fair (Mitraf) at Imperial Permaisuri City Mall on Friday.

“Efforts to make this year a success tourism year cannot rest totally on MCC and local tourism agencies here. We need and welcome the support of the business community to chip in for the city. Miri has many places of interest that are unique with their own charm to lure people to visit the city,” Yii said.

He added that there are still many aspects in the city which have yet to be developed well.

Thus, he urged the business community to be more creative in integratin­g their business products with existing tourism publicity.

On the trade fair event, he said such event provides the opportunit­y to promote especially new products in the market, including tourism and food products. Also present were chairman of the Miri Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCCI) Lee Khoi Yun and chief executive officer (CEO) of Boulevard Group of Companies Don Yew.

The four-day trade fair was organised by See Hua Marketing Sdn Bhd (SHM) in collaborat­ion with Permaisuri Imperial City Mall and The Imperial Mall.

United Fusion Sdn Bhd is the main sponsor for Mitraf 17. A total of 60 exhibitors are taking part in the four-day trade fair showcasing large variety of products.

Visitors who spend a minimum of RM300 as deposit/booking fee for motor vehicle/property or RM100 collective­ly on purchases at participat­ing booths on the same day will be entitled to participat­e in a lucky draw.

A total of 28 prizes will be up for grabs including a cooker hood as the grand prize, as well as numerous home appliances.

In addition to that, Country Garden Holdings has sponsored a special prize for the lucky draw with a three-day and two-night tour to Forest City, a large-scale property developmen­t in southern Johor adjacent to Singapore.
