CM’s wife walks down memory lane at SK Anchi
MIRI: The visit by the Chief Minister’s wife Datin Patinggi Dato Juma’ani Tuanku Bujang to SK Anchi here yesterday was a walk down memory lane.
SK Anchi was where she had attended primary school.
According to SK Anchi headmaster Abdul Aziz Taee, it was a nostalgic and proud moment for everyone in the school to be given the opportunity to host the former student’s visit.
“We are very happy to have Datin Patinggi Juma’ani here, in fact some of her former classmates from this school are also with us this morning. So this is like a reunion and a sweet memory,” he said.
Abdul Aziz said this after presenting a briefing on the school to guests present, in conjunction with the official visit by the Chief Minister’s wife.
Elaborating, he said SK Anchi had undergone a lot of changes in terms of academic and cocurriculum, as well as contributed time and effort to numerous community programmes.
“This school was opened in 1924 and had moved from its initial location ( Pujut) to the present location ( Piasau), as well as underwent numerous education transformation with strong collaboration from teachers and parents,” he disclosed.
He added that the school had also set up an educational reference site which was inspired by the teachers, to help pupils study and make their references.
“The school is always committed in producing quality students and our teachers use various teaching methods to achieve this target, including by holding outside- classroom activities,” he said.
Abdul Aziz said he was also proud of the school’s UPSR results which he said was showing improvement every year. Apart from that, he said SK Anchi pupils are also excelling in sports.
“Our achievements are not only in education, but also in sports. A number of our pupils are creating school history when competing against other schools,” he said.
Among the activities held in conjunction with Juma’ani’s visit were hadrah performance, education exhibition as well as a band presentation.
At the function, Juma’ani presented a grant of RM10,000 to SK Anchi’s parent-t eacher association (PTA).
Earlier, Juma’ani visited Kolej Tun Datu Tuanku Haji Bujang Miri where she also presented a RM10,000 grant to its PTA.
Juma’ani was accompanied by wife of Sibuti MP, Dayang Lily Abang Indeh; Miri Resident Sherrina Hussaini, wife of Assistant Tourism Minister, Datin Cristina Kong; Miri mayor’s wife Rita Lau, wife of Piasau asemblyman, Datin Sylvia Lim; Temenggong Elizabeth Deng and others.
