State, federal civil servants praised for helping to attain goal

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Chief Minister Tan Sri Musa Aman has expressed his appreciation to state and federal civil servants for helping to attain the state government’s goal in developing the state.

He said that economic, social and physical progress was achieved due to the commitment of the civil servants throughout Sabah who worked together as a team in realising the state government’s goals.

“The success so far is not my achievement individually as the Sabah Chief Minister or Finance Minister.

“Believe me, we have been and are on the right platform; the best platform to continue this progress and triumph. Thank you all,” he said when addressing over 2,000 state and federal civil servants at an assembly with the Sabah Chief Minister here yesterday.

Musa hoped civil servants in the state would continue to be committed to making all planning efficient and effective so that the positive impact and benefits could be enjoyed by the target groups and the people as a whole.

He also said the Sabah state government would always maintain close ties and solidarity with the federal government to ensure Sabahans benefited from various development programmes.

“Sabah still needs large allocations from the federal government to further improve public amenities such as government hospitals and clinics, schools and universities, infrastructure like roads, water and electricity as well as security assets to further strengthen the state’s defence aspect,” he added.

Earlier in commending civil servants in the state, Sabah State Secretary Tan Sri Sukarti Wakiman said the state government had recognised their contributions in the form of provisions comprising various incentives.

Citing the state civil service as an example, he said, since 2015 some 284 grade 41 officers had been promoted based on additional time promotion and another 3,678 management officers under the KUP scheme since 2009.

“Since 1994, the state government has also given bonus or special financial aid, annual remuneration or special payments totalling 32 times from as low as RM400 to one month’s salary without fail,” he added.
