Kansei founder to speak at KEER 2018
KUCHING: The 7th International Conference on Kansei Engineering and Emotion Research ( KEER 2018), happening at Riverside Majestic Hotel Kuching from March 19-22, will include three renowned speakers including the founder of Kansei Engineering Method Mitsuo Nagamachi.
Nagamachi is a Professor Emeritus at Hiroshima University Japan, president of the International Kansei Design Institute as well as advisor to Japan Society of Kansei Engineering.
Using the Kansei method he devised in 1970, Nagamachi has assisted more than 600 industries and developed more than 60 products for renowned brands like Nestle, Mazda, Toyota, LG, Samsung and more.
He has also won numerous academic awards and consults on Kansei Engineering worldwide on top of having published more than 100 books and 500 articles.
At KEER 2018, Nagamachi will be talking on ‘ The Secret of Successful Kansei Product Development’, a topic to better understand how one can implement the Kansei method in developing a new product to meet customer satisfaction.
Another keynote speaker is Emeritus Professor Dato Dr Hassan Said, currently the ViceChancellor of UniversitiTeknologi Mara ( UiTM).
With a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, Master of Science and a PhD in Computer Aided Geometric Design, Hassan is a board member and director of various public and private education institutions as well as several local and international organisations.
The multiple award-winning professor has strong interest in mathematics and computer-aided geometric design. He believes happiness at work is the key to productivity and quality of life, and has been working on the Happiness Index for employees in Malaysian higher education institutions.
He will talk on ‘ Happiness & Wellbeing’ where he will deliberate on the Happiness Index in detail.
The third keynote speaker Carole Favart, will talk on ‘Kansei Design: 10 Years at Toyota Motor Europe’.
As an architect and designer, Carole is responsible for spearheading the Kansei Design Division at Toyote Europe, resulting in cross-functional division optimising synergy between research and development, product planning and design at Toyota Motor Europe.
Studies are conducted using Kansei tools and methods to create better user experience and anticipating future customer’s needs, further enhancing the bridge between people and technology.
She is also an author in design education since 1990 and serves as board member of various Kansei organisations.
The four- day programme at KEER 2018 will include six workshops by renowned experts, parallel and poster sessions, a video festival and an exhibition.
KEER 2018 is organised in collaboration with the Japan Society of Kansei Engineering (JSKE), the Taiwan Institute of Kansei ( TIK) and the European Kansei Group ( EKG).
Malaysia Association of Kansei Engineering ( MAKE) is the local organiser of this conference with strong support by Research Interest Group of Kansei / Affective Engineering ( RIG KAE), Universiti Teknologi MARA ( UiTM).
