Hing Ann Associatio­n opens new office

KUCHING: The Hing Ann Associatio­n Kuching now has a new office, located on the ground floor of the associatio­n’s existing premises at Jalan Padungan here.

According to its chairman Michael Teo, the new office is meant to enhance the associatio­n’s services as its membership has grown from 2,000 to around 3,000 people now.

Teo, deputy president Kok Hin Kai, executive advisor Tay Swee King who is also the immediate past president, were among those present at the official opening ceremony yesterday, which was held as part of activities

The present office on the upper floor is a bit inconvenie­nt for our elderly members,” said Teo, who also took the opportunit­y to call upon fellow Heng Hua clansmen to uphold the spirit of unity, which he viewed as being ‘ the backbone of progress and developmen­t’.

“Unity allows the community to move forward. We are very fortunate that we live in Sarawak because we are living in a peaceful and harmonious environmen­t.

“This is because all of us continue to live in unity with and acceptance of one another, despite being from different racial, religious and cultural background­s.” Teo also called on the youth members of the associatio­n to be active in politics.

“It doesn’t matter which party you are in, we will show you our support,” he said.
