MIRI: A four- day boot camp was held for 43 students from the Diploma in Mechatronics, Malaysian Skills Certificate ( SKM) in Computer Systems, Office Management, Electrical and Electrical Industries at Sarawak Skills Development Centre (PPKS) Miri recently.

A final project by Awangku Mohd Hafizuddin Awang Drus and Damian Bahron from Diploma of Information System Management ( Level 4) titled ‘ Building Personal Excellence ( B. P. E) Boot camp 2018’ aimed to educate participants on the importance of time management, cooperation, communication and body language, especially in the work place.

According to Awang Mohd Hafizuddin and Damian, the idea of holding the boot camp started when they were at Level 2 when they realised the importance of having self- confidence during presentations.

“We think self- confidence is important especially when we enter the working world, which is different and more challenging. This boot camp serves to help boost the self- confidence of participants.

“Among the activities during the bootcampweretalks, teambuilding activities and presentations from each of the participants. We had the opportunity of inviting Peter Lim from IBS College Miri to give a talk on the psychology of motivation and body language,” Awang Mohd Hafizuddin told The Borneo Post recently.

Meanwhile, PPKS Miri campus director (CD) Syuhaira Mohd Zin and representative of Internal Assessment Officer ( Student Affairs Officer) Eddisson Eddie Freddie Tikas applauded both students for conducting the boot camp successfully.

“Conducting a boot camp is no easy task and I am proud to see the effort by Awang Mohd Hafizuddin and Damian.

“This should be taken as an example to other students to not give up and to do their best.

“To the participants, please take into account CD’s advice whereby criteria such as punctuality, cooperation and others are very useful once one starts working,” said Eddison.
