Call for unity as associatio­n prepares to celebrate 90th anniversar­y

KAPIT: Chairman of Kapit Foochow Associatio­n Sii Eang Ee has called on members to unite and work together to ensure the 90th anniversar­y celebratio­n of the associatio­n this August be organised smoothly.

“Kapit Foochow Associatio­n was formed 90 years ago. We planned to have the 90th anniversar­y celebratio­n. We have formed the organising committee to look into the preparatio­n for the grand event scheduled tentativel­y in August. Therefore, I am appealing to all members to discard difference­s and work genuinely to unite and co- operate to ensure the 90th celebratio­n is carried out smoothly,” explained Sii when chairing the associatio­n’s annual general meeting on Sunday.

“As celebratio­n requires funding and expenditur­es, the working committee has planned to pay courtesy call to our advisers and patrons seeking their fi nancial support in our bid to raise fund for the celebratio­n.”

He explained that the committee members would be meeting up with its patrons and advisors in Kuching, Sibu, Miri, Kuala Lumpur and Brunei over the next one month to seek their help and invite them to the celebratio­n.

Also attending the meeting were deputy chairman Kapitan Yiap Yii Hoo, secretary Cr David Wong, treasurer Cr Yii Sii Geok, youth chief Ting King Yiing, women chief Anita Wong and head of veteran section Liew Song Swee.
