Call for unity as association prepares to celebrate 90th anniversary
KAPIT: Chairman of Kapit Foochow Association Sii Eang Ee has called on members to unite and work together to ensure the 90th anniversary celebration of the association this August be organised smoothly.
“Kapit Foochow Association was formed 90 years ago. We planned to have the 90th anniversary celebration. We have formed the organising committee to look into the preparation for the grand event scheduled tentatively in August. Therefore, I am appealing to all members to discard differences and work genuinely to unite and co- operate to ensure the 90th celebration is carried out smoothly,” explained Sii when chairing the association’s annual general meeting on Sunday.
“As celebration requires funding and expenditures, the working committee has planned to pay courtesy call to our advisers and patrons seeking their fi nancial support in our bid to raise fund for the celebration.”
He explained that the committee members would be meeting up with its patrons and advisors in Kuching, Sibu, Miri, Kuala Lumpur and Brunei over the next one month to seek their help and invite them to the celebration.
Also attending the meeting were deputy chairman Kapitan Yiap Yii Hoo, secretary Cr David Wong, treasurer Cr Yii Sii Geok, youth chief Ting King Yiing, women chief Anita Wong and head of veteran section Liew Song Swee.
