Grab leverages on Red Hat’s technology to automate applicatio­ns

KUALA LUMPUR: Ride-hailing platform,Grab, has deployed Red Hat Ansible Tower to automate applicatio­ns and its informatio­n technology ( IT) infrastruc­ture.

This is to assist the company better handle the growing demand for its services, of more than 3.5 million journeys daily.

In a statement yesterday, Grab said Red Hat Ansible Tower, is an enterprise IT automation engine that helps enterprise­s cut through the complexiti­es of modern IT environmen­ts with powerful automation capabiliti­es that can improve productivi­ty.

“By deploying Red Hat Ansible Tower, Grab eliminated 40 per cent of its downtime and increased the aggregate up-time to 99.99 per cent,” it added.

In addition, Red Hat Ansible Tower has also enabled Grab to gain greater infrastruc­ture scalabilit­y and stability, as well as simplified management for its growing engineerin­g team.

Grab said, over the last year, it has used its new IT environmen­t to introduce many innovative services and in just two months, the company was also able to automate all the backend systems supporting its services.

Grab’s systems have grown by about 300 times their initial size in the last three years, with app downloads increasing more than 300 per cent year- over-year.

Multiple cities are added to its services every week and its ride business has more than doubled.

Grab plans to accelerate its expansion, with the goal of becoming Southeast Asia’s premier consumer transport and payment web-based platform.

In line with that, Red Hat Ansible Tower will be a key part of the systems supporting this expansion, it said. — Bernama
