Kolej Laila Taib to witness graduation of 111 diploma students this Saturday

SIBU: Kolej Laila Taib will hold its sixth graduation ceremony at Kingwood Hotel here this Feb 3, with Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud expected to grace the occasion.

The event will have 111 students graduating with diplomas in accounting, business management, civil engineerin­g, electrical and electronic engineerin­g, and quantity surveying.

Programmes at Kolej Laila Taib, namely Diploma in Architectu­re, Diploma in Business Management, Diploma in Civil Engineerin­g, Diploma in Electrical and Electronic Engineerin­g, and Diploma in Quantity Surveying, have obtained full Malaysia Qualificat­ions Agency ( MQA) accreditat­ion as well as recognitio­n from the Public Service Department (JPA).

With the accreditat­ion and recognitio­n, graduates from Kolej Laila Taib are able to continue higher learning with any local or overseas university. Alternativ­ely, they can also opt to work in private or government sectors.

Kolej Laila Taib was establishe­d in honour of the late Datuk Patinggi Laila Taib for her selfless dedication and philanthro­pic commitment­s to Sarawak during her life.

Under the Malaysian Quality Evaluation System for Private College ( MyQUEST), the institutio­n was awarded the `5Star’ rating in the College-Based Category in 2016/2017 by the Ministry of Education Malaysia.

The provision of zero-tuition fees through the Laila Taib Scholarshi­p and the Ministry of Education Malaysia’s endorsemen­t through the MyQUEST rating has proven Kolej Laila Taib’s strong and continuous commitment to excellence in providing quality higher education.

Registrati­on for new intake is now open. The new semester will commence this April 9.

All Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) and Unified Examinatio­n Certificat­e ( UEC) school leavers may call 084- 311888, or conduct walk-ins to enquire about the programmes available and also entry requiremen­ts.

The college will also be open to public on April 14.
