MIRI: The 150 ‘ Badudun De Selanyau’ mountain bike race participants had a thrilling experience on the 22km route.

Riders from Brunei, Limbang, Lawas, Bintulu, Miri, and Sibuti took part in the race on Sunday.

“It was a challenging and sporting trail and we enjoyed the scenery of the jungle, oil palm trees, and passing by villages,” said Yahya Nudin, one of 10 riders from Brunei.

“I enjoyed the ride, which offers a challenging trail passing by a few streams, climbing up and down hills, and should be further promoted to foreign mountain bike lovers.”

DAAS cycling team member Abdul Ajis Taib said the ride was a starting point for the team to further collaborate on promoting Bekenu and its beautiful villages and scenery.

“Many were happy with the fun ride and race, as young and old also took part in the challenge but the shorter routes,” he said.

“More youths are now seen taking part in this healthy ride with mountain bikes, which make them fitter by having a healthy lifestyle.”

Badudun De Selanyau advisor Yunus Taib said the community activity would help to promote Bekenu and its tourism spots.

He said the next mountain bike race – the Bekenu Challenge – will be held in October.

“A specialist is drawing up the new Bekenu trail route, which will be done in the nearest time to give a greater challenge to
