“This is to ensure government programmes and policies can be implemented effectively,” he said at the presentation of certificates to 27 longhouse chiefs and seven Kapitans from Sibu District.

Siaw presented appointment certificates to five new Kapitans at the function held at his office. They are So Teck Kee, Kong Chee Ping, Yong Lok Kwong, Chiong Siong Tech and Tiong Chiong Kiing.

Siaw said as community leaders, they should be open-minded, willing to share experience with colleagues, prepared to work as a team, and be professional, trustworthy and have integrity.

“If we invite you to attend any programme or ceremony, please cooperate as a sign of support for government programmes.

“It is my high hope for all the community leaders to serve impartially and wisely in line with the aspiration/slogan of the state government, which is An Honour to Serve,” Siaw said.
