Parents reminded on importance of sending their children to school

SIMUNJAN: All members of village security and development committees (JKKK) are urged to be serious about their children’s education.

Deputy Home Minister Datuk Masir Kujat said it is also the responsibility of the committee to explain to their charges on giving good education to their children apart from other development affecting them.

“In preparing us towards 2020, our children must be sufficiently equipped with various types of knowledge as without it they would be left out of the country’s education system.

“We have to be reminded all the time on these because our younger people are very important human capital as they will one day become our leaders,” he added.

Masir, who is Sri Aman MP, said this at ‘the meet-the-people’ session at Rumah Berundang, Kedumpai Tengah in Simunjan, yesterday.

He said the country really needed educated and knowledgeable young people to develop the country, whereby by 2020, Malaysia would see every family having a university graduate each.

“If we do not send our children to school to get the best education, what will be their fate by 2020,” he said.

During the event, Masir announced government grants of RM5,000 and RM3,000 to the JKKK and its women’s bureau respectively while RM30,000 was channeled to Projek Mesra Rakyat for buying building materials.
