NGOs deny sanctioning any setting up of Sai Baba Centre in Bau, blessing ceremony

-

KUCHING: The Sathya Sai International Organisation of Malaysia ( SSIO Malaysia) and the Sathya Sai Baba Centre of Kuching (SSBC Kuching) want to clarify a news reports published on a local Chinese press last week, announcing the setting up of a ‘Sai Baba Centre’ in Bau and the conduct of a blessing ceremony by a ‘Sai Baba Subtle Body’.

In a joint statement, they stress that ‘such centre and such ceremony’ are neither sanctioned nor organised by SSIO Malaysia and SSBC Kuching.

“We wish to clarify that SSBC Kuching, at address Lot 65- 66, Section 36, KTLD Jalan Batu Lintang, 93672 Kuching – is the one and only Sathya Sai Baba Centre in Kuching that is affi liated with SSIO Malaysia – a non-sectarian, non- governmental organisation (NGO) dedicated to the promotion of human values, national unity and selfless service for the poor, the sick and the needy,” said the jointstatement, issued yesterday.

It also revealed that currently, SSIO Malaysia has more than 80 centres and units nationwide.

“The organisation, inspired by our Master Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, is part of the worldwide body with presence in over 130 countries.

“The raising of funds for projects and centre buildings from the public is strictly prohibited by the Sathya Sai Organisation. Soliciting funds from the public, even for the alleged noble cause as claimed (on the news report), is rejected by Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba.

“SSIO Malaysia and SSBC Kuching shall not be responsible for any misuse or abuse of public funds collected in the name of Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba,” the SSIO Malaysia-SSBC Kuching statement said.

It also stated that Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba ‘ has ruled that He does not speak to His devotees and the public through mediums or clairvoyants’.

“Hence, SSIO Malaysia and SSBC Kuching do not believe in the claim of a ‘subtle body’ speaking on behalf of our Master. We urge the public to exercise caution with regard to such claims,”
