Shahidan: Internal matters not for ears of outsiders

-

ARAU: Umno party leaders who have differences of opinions should not divulge internal party matters to outsiders, said its supreme council member Datuk Seri Dr Shahidan Kassim.

He said leaders and members who loved the party would also not give the opportunity to outside quarters to disrupt the unity of Umno, especially in the light of the looming 14th general election (GE14).

“Any differences or internal matters should only circulate within the party,” said Shahidan who was asked to comment on the first supreme council ( MT) meeting this year chaired by the party’s president and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib in Kuala Lumpur Tuesday.

Shahidan, who is also Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department and Arau member of parliament, was met after presenting early schooling aid to 488 students of Sekolah Rendah Kebangsaan Pauh here yesterday.

On the MT meeting, Shahidan said the prime minister had called for a massive programme to be held to give information to the people so that they would not be served with false information in view of the impending GE14.

“We make a major programme not to curse people or create issues but to clarify the manifesto towards championing the lives of the people,” he said, adding that Perlis was now devoid of internal problems.

Shahidan said he would continue to lobby to three public universities to open branches in the state to make Perlis a knowledge state, to turn Padang Besar into a duty-free area like Bukit Kayu Hitam and to implement economic development projects in the state. — Bernama
