Unite, support BN, Indian community urged

-

KUALA LUMPUR: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said yesterday the Indian community in the country would continue to advance and enjoy more aid and facilities with their continued support of the government led by the Barisan Nasional.

In this regard, he said, it was very important that the community be united and elect the BN on polling day of the 14th General Election.

“I hope we can forget the old, the Indian community should shut the old book. Anyone who is in opposition should forget disagreements for the big day ( polling day) to come by supporting the BN led by ( Prime Minister) Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

“He has implemented various special programmes for the entire Indian community. So, getting greater assistance is by giving stronger support to his leadership,” he said when addressing worshippers and others at the Thaipusam celebration in Batu Caves near here.

Ahmad Zahid said continued support would translate into the Indian community being continuously cared for and benefiting from much more aid and development.

He also said that Thaipusam, which was celebrated by Hindus yesterday, demonstrated the harmony and peace that people of all faiths enjoyed in the country in practising their respective beliefs. — Bernama
