Andy Lau poised for new series of concerts in Asia

HONG KONG: Andy Lau is poised to launch a new series of concerts to be staged in several cities in Asia.

The series kicks off with concerts at the Hong Kong Coliseum.

His publicists are revving up his promotiona­l machinery for a very busy year ahead.

According to a statement uploaded on his official page, Andy World Club, “For the first time in seven years, Andy Lau will be returning to Hong Kong for a concert (…) there will also be shows to be held in the mainland in 2019.”

The statement from his publicists added: “Upon hearing that we received the approval for his Hong Kong shows, Andy was extremely happy and will be earnestly starting preparatio­ns for the concert soon.”

The latest developmen­t is heartening news for his legions of fans across Asia who had been shocked by his horseridin­g accident while filming a commercial in Thailand last year. Some 20 year- end concerts were cancelled.

Even after his recovery, fans had feared for the worst — that he would no longer be able to endure the punishing pace of a concert tour.

The latest statement by his publicists have put those fears to rest.

Andy’s publicists also took the opportunit­y to address speculatio­n about his tour dates.

all over the world have been anticipati­ng news about his new tour, and there have also been rumours about certain cities, dates and ticketing informatio­n circulatin­g.

“We’d like to take the chance to say that we hope that fans will not misunderst­and or be misinforme­d with these unfounded speculatio­n. All informatio­n will be updated on the official sites when they are confirmed.”

Some 17 years ago, Andy had celebrated his 30th anniversar­y in showbiz with 20 concerts at the Hong Kong Coliseum from December 2010 to January 2011.

The concerts spawned a bestsellin­g DVD featuring 30 songs.

Andy is known as one of Hong Kong’s legendary “Heavenly Kings” of the 1990s, together with Jacky Cheung, Aaron Kwok and Leon Lai.
