Wiko, Tinno merge to become major player in mobile phone industry
KUALA LUMPUR: After seven years of close partnership, Wiko and Tinno yesterday announced their merger in a strategic move to strengthen Wiko’s position towards becoming a major world player in the mobile phone industry.
The close relationship between Wiko’s senior vice- president Laurent Dahan and Tinno Group chairman James Lin was the key motivation in the collaboration as they both complement each other’s skills to create global success.
Both Dahan and Lin will be co-piloting Wiko. The new Wiko Leadership Committee comprises Lin as president, senior vice-president Dahan, and vice-presidents Michel Assadourian and Julien Heang.
Wiko is known to have expertise in market research, consumer-focused strategy and unique sales organisation, while Tinno comes with its industrial know-how and production capabilities.
“This new stage is essential to meet the needs and requirements of our consumers by offering them a wide range of innovative products,” said Dahan in a statement sent to Bernama.
“Wiko provides all the necessary assets to conquer new consumers around the world. The cooperation strengthened with Tinno will quickly allow us to pass a new cape and will change Wiko into an iconic brand worldwide,” added Lin.
Wiko is a French smartphone brand founded in 2011 in Marseille with 30 million users in more than 30 countries worldwide. —
