State BN ready for GE14 — Abdullah

-

KUCHING: Barisan Nasional ( BN) Sarawak has always been ready for the general election, which is expected to be held soon, says Assistant Minister of Corporate Affairs Abdullah Saidol.

The chief political secretary to the Chief Minister said Sarawak is unique in a way as the state seems to have elections in almost every two years.

He recalled that Sarawak had its state election two years ago and it would soon join the other states in the country in the 14th general election.

“By having election almost every two years means we are always ready for both state and general elections.

“In fact, our election machinery is still warm and still fresh from the big victory in the last battle.

“Our data is also still quite up to date,” he said at the Linking with Media ceremony organised by the state Information Department here yesterday.

However, Abdullah said although BN Sarawak was always ready for election, they would not take things for granted and every BN assemblymen would be going all out to help their candidates win the parliamentary election.

He added that the election machinery of every parliamentary constituency had been activated and was ready to fight the battle once Parliament is dissolved to pave the way for the 14th general election. Abdullah predicted that Parliament might be dissolved in two weeks’ time.

“No one knows the exact date of the election because it is the prerogative of Prime Minister ( Datuk Seri) Najib ( Tun Razak) to announce the dissolution of Parliament.

“But the media personnel, better start to jog and exercise now in order to be fit because the moment of your hectic schedule is going to come very soon,” he said.
