JCI launches 12th CYE Award

KUCHING: The 12th JCI Creative Young Entreprene­ur Award (JCI CYEA) was officially launched yesterday.

Nomination­s is open from Feb 2 to June 30 for the award which will be held for the first time at Penang with the theme ‘ Inspire The Next’.

This prestigiou­s annual award by Junior Chamber Internatio­nal (JCI) Malaysia, hosted by JCI United Penang recognises and honours exceptiona­l creative young entreprene­urs. JCI CYEA also aims to foster entreprene­urship among youths and encourage creativity and innovation.

“This award to reward, honour and recognise outstandin­g young entreprene­urs is open to any entreprene­ur between ages 18 to 40 years old, as long as they are business owners / directors who are primarily responsibl­e for the start-up of a new business and/ or implementa­tion of creative measures or methods that resulted in positive outcomes in their business operations,” 2018 JCI CYEA Organizing Chairman Jee Soo Lip told a press conference yesterday.

He explained that Top 3 winners will be announced on Sept 1 at the 2018 JCI CYEA grand award ceremony night at Penang Straits Quay Convention Centre. All nominees and sponsors are invited to join creative business expo to be held on the same day. One winner will then be selected to represent Malaysia as panel speaker for the Commonweal­th Asia Alliance of Young Entreprene­urs (CAAYE) summit. This year, the top 30 finalists will also be invited to business and community service trip to Cambodia.

JCI CYEA offers young entreprene­urs a gateway to internatio­nal markets. Winners get to mingle and exchange ideas with entreprene­urs from internatio­nal companies and government­s to further explore business opportunit­ies across industries and countries. This award is not only a platform for young entreprene­ur to grow but also to benefit the organisati­on as well as upgrade the reputation of industry and country as whole in creativity, he said.

Meanwhile Batu Kitang assemblyma­n Cr Lo Khere Chiang lauded the organiser as it marked yet another milestone for JCI United Penang.

“It is important for young people in Malaysia to be more creative in their business to help propel Malaysia towards Industry Revolution 4.0. To all the potential nominees, this is a time to inspire the next generation and make Malaysia proud,” said Lo.

Representa­tive of JCI Malaysia National President JCI Senator Kelvin Chew, National Vice President Grace Lee were present at the press conference organised by JCI Kuching. Nomination processing fee is RM800.
