Former Palestine envoy to Malaysia passes away
KUALA LUMPUR: Former Palestine ambassador to Malaysia Abdelaziz Abuqutaish (Abu Ghosh) passed away on Saturday (April 7) and was buried after Zuhur prayers, yesterday afternoon. He was 68. The Palestine Embassy in Kuala Lumpur in a statement on Monday said the funeral would be held at As Syakirin Mosque ( KLCC Mosque) before burial at Raudhatul Sakinah Muslim cemetery in Taman Selasih, Fasa 2, Batu Caves, Selangor.
The embassy said consolations and condolences would be accepted today from 3pm to 7pm at Palestinian House, the official residence of the Palestine Ambassador at No 13, Jalan Pegawai, Off Jalan U-Thant, Kuala Lumpur.
“The Embassy of the State of Palestine avails itself of this opportunity to renew to the esteemed Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia, all Diplomatic Missions and the Offices of the Regional Representatives of the United Nations Agencies and International Organisations the assurances of its highest consideration,” it said.
Meanwhile, Ministry of Foreign Affairs protocol deputy chief Abdullah Zawawi Tahir said the late Abdelaziz died in Indonesia due to heart attack at 3.50pm.
He said the necessary documentations were prepared in Jakarta on Sunday for the remains to be brought back to Malaysia on Monday at 1.30pm.
“Abdelaziz’s remains accompanied by his son arrived at Kuala International Airport at 5pm yesterday. Cargo and documentation matters were completed by 7.30pm. The burial permit was obtained at 8.15pm last night,” he told Bernama.
