Promas to develop agricultur­e project in Negeri Sembilan

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia Promas Internatio­nal Business Society will develop an agricultur­e project in Johol, Negeri Sembilan, beginning May with an investment worth RM20 million.

President Datuk Chong Chong Tik said the project was under a joint-venture with the Undang Luak Johol Datuk Johan Pahlawan Lela Perkasa Setiawan Muhammad Abdullah and both parties intended to establish a company for this purpose.

The project spanned 404.69 hectares of land in the constituen­t and would be developed over 10 years, he added.

Chong noted that a manufactur­ing plant would also be set up to cater for the project.

“The bulk of the investment­s will come from Promas. The agricultur­e products such as fruits including durian and health supplement crops will be exported to the internatio­nal market,” he told reporters after the signing of memorandum of understand­ing between Promas and Muhammad yesterday.

Promas consists of 150 local manufactur­ing companies.

Earlier, Chong was appointed as Pioneer President for the Malaysian branch of Silk Road Internatio­nal Exchange Associatio­n (SRIEA), while Muhammad has been appointed as the Chairman of Central Committee.

The appointmen­ts were witnessed by SRIEA Finance Administra­tor, Li Peng.

SRIEA is a Hong Kong-based associatio­n and establishe­d by several big Chinese corporates in response to the Belt and Road initiative.

It has several branches including in China, the United States, United Kingdom, Australia and South Korea. — Bernama
