‘Fired up’ bowlers down for Thai challenge
KUCHING: Seven Sukma elite bowlers are now gunning for more honours in the 44th MWASingha Thailand International Open Bowling Championship at Blu- O Rhythm and Bowl Siam Paragon in Bangkok from Apr 3-14.
They are Abang Afiq Yazeed Abang Azman who won the recent U21 Brunswick Youth Challenge tit le at Sunway Megalanes, Mohammad Uzair Irsyad Noor Azrul, Abner Loo Chub Lik, Christopher Tiong Lee Siong, Gi l lian Lim Siew Giok, Nur Aina Kamalia Abdul Ayub and Brandon Ting Lik How.

Team manager Robert Lu said the Bangkok outing is under Amateur Tenpin Bowling of Sarawak ( ABAS) development prog ramme t o expose the state bowlers in international competitions.
“It is also to prepare them for the coming Sarawak Open International tenpin Bowling Championship this month and the Sukma XIX competition in September.
“We are not setting any target for the bowlers as the main objective will be for exposure. Nevertheless, I hope they can prove themselves in the competition and win something,” said Lu who is ABAS vice president.
He admitted that winning medals in this international meet is no easy task as some of the world’s best bowlers are in action.
However, he felt that they are more ‘fired up’ after undergoing a two- day motivation and team building camp at Sumiran Eco Camp in Rantau Panjang, Batu Kawa over the weekend.
“These bowler s a r e our prospects and potential medallists in Sukma and other national and international competitions,” added Lu.
