PKR proud its Kanowit candidate did quite well

-

KANOWIT: Parti Keadilan Rakyat ( PKR) is glad that its candidate has managed to obtain encouraging result in Kanowit despite the loss to Barisan Nasional ( BN).

PKR Kanowit secretary George Chen said they accepted the fact that they lost the seat.

“However, we are also glad that we lost with dignity and integrity.

“We didn’t have the machinery like our opponent did. We did not involve in money politics. We didn’t even have enough money to pay our election campaign workers for things like transport expenses,” he told reporters during the counting of votes at the Kanowit District Office here Wednesday evening.

He said the good result was an indication that voters of today were more conscious of politics in their daily life.

PKR candidate Satu Anchom polled 5,240 votes while BN candidate Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang polled 9,552 votes.

On PH forming the new federal government, Chen said he believed that PH would treat the opposition with respect.

“We will not treat them like ‘hantu’ (ghost) or like they are not citizens of this country.

“Yes, we were not treated fairly in terms of development and distribution of minor rural projects ( MRP) funds when we were in the opposition.

“We will definitely not do to them what they did to us before,” he said.

He also believed that PH would treat all states fairly irrespective of whether they are in the ( PH) government or with the opposition.
