Outside voter factor helps PAS retains Kelantan — MB

-

KOTA BHARU: Support from young voters and the return of voters from outside the state are among factors for PAS to win big in the 14th General Election ( GE14) yesterday, said Kelantan PAS commissioner Datuk Ahmad Yakob.

He said the party was able to retain its power in the state after winning 37 of the 45 state seats.

“My deepest appreciation and gratitude to the Kelantan people for choosing PAS. Once again, we are given the mandate to administer the state with the policy of developing with Islam.

“Thank you to the Kelantan-born children who returned home to give their vote to PAS, and all those who had worked hard,” he told a media conference at the State PAS Liaison office here yesterday.

Earlier, Ahmad took his oath of office as Kelantan Menteri besar for the second term at Istana Kota Lama here.

On Pakatan Harapan’s ( PH) failure to win any parliamentary or state seats in Kelantan in yesterday’s general election, Ahmad said it was expected.

“The PH approach is not suitable in Kelantan,” he said.

In GE14, PAS, which has helmed Kelantan for 28 years, retained its power after winning 37 of the 45 state seats. The remaining seats were won by Barisan Nasional ( BN).

PH, using PKR’s ticket, and PSM also contested for the state seats in Kelantan, but failed to win any. — Bernama
