Ramadan stall holder hungry for success

LIMBANG: The unfortunat­e incident of seeing the face of his worker burnt in front of his eyes two months ago is no damper for Jafar Azeez to continue his business which he started more than 20 years ago.

Owner of ‘Dayana Curry House & Catering’ at Taman Cahaya, Jalan Sibukang here, Jafar Azeez said the incident was a challenge one had to face in doing business, and from which one could learn from.

Jafar said Sandika, 46, was a loyal and hardworkin­g employee who has worked at his restaurant for over 10 years.

“In fact, Sandika would be the first person to be so excited when each Ramadan comes around, eager to open a booth.

“Despite the unfortunat­e incident, Sandika is not traumatise­d but remains enthusiast­ic in working but has to wear mask,” he said.

A roti canai seller, Fauziah Pudin 39, also utilizes her skill in expanding the family business.

Fauziah, who acquired the skills in making roti canai 10 years ago, is one of single mothers in the district who has successful­ly expanded her business.

“There is nothing to be ashamed of in making and selling roti canai. There are challenges like getting injured or burnt preparing the roti canai.

“Gender is not the benchmark of success, but interest and determinat­ion are,” said Fauziah, adding that she inherited the talent of making roti canai from family members.
