PH federal govt urged to implement specialist hospital in Limbang
LIMBANG: The Pakatan Harapan ( PH) federal government should see to the needs of the people in northern Sarawak, including the construction of a greatly needed specialist hospital to improve the quality of healthcare services in Limbang.
Assistant Minister of Agriculture Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail said the specialist hospital was one of the projects that was planned by the previous federal government to be built in this district.
He pointed out that as a representative of the people, it is their responsibility to continue to champion the needs of the people here, both at state and federal level.
“Whichever government that rules, they need to see the people’s need like building the specialist hospital here, and we believe that the new government will seriously consider the application and approve the project,” he said when met by reporters yesterday to comment on the development of the specialist hospital project planned by the previous federal government.
The Bukit Kota assemblyman added that Malaysia is practising the federal government system, which was adopted since Malaysia achieved independence.
“Through this system, the federal government is responsible for matters under their purview such as health, education and so on.
“Although Sarawak is governed by BN, the federal government is committed to provide allocations under the Malaysian Development Plan,” he said.
In addition to the specialist hospital, Dr Abdul Rahman believed that the newly formed PH government will review all approved projects, or those currently under the planning stages here.
“The construction of the coastal road from Buang Abai to Pengkalan Rejab ( phase four) will continue.
“For projects that have been approved but the selection of contractors has not been done, it will be put on hold and the new government will decide including re-tendering the project “he said.
He added that the state government would work closely with the federal government to pursue projects required by the people as well as the basic infrastructure for digital economy.
