Fatimah to work with Dr Wan Azizah on welfare issues
MIRI: The Ministry of Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development will work together with its federal counterpart in ensuring continuous support and assistance for those in their target group.
Its minister Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah said there are areas that coexist between the federal and state ministries, thus the need for cooperation.
“First, I would like to congratulate Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail for being appointed as the Deputy Prime Minister and holding the portfolio of Minister of Women, Family and Community Development. We have to give her more time to be with the ministry staffs and for her to be briefed on related matters.
“So let her settle down first, then from there I have already thought of paying her a courtesy call because at the state level, being the minister in charge of Welfare, Community Well Being, Women, Family and Childhood Development, there are areas which are concurrent between the federal and state, thus we would like to know her focus and direction and at the same time we would like to share with her our focus and concern, including the areas of women affairs” she told reporters after the Sejambak Kasih Gawai Raya 2018 programme organised by the Welfare Department (JKMS) at Dynasty Hotel here yesterday.
She further stressed that at the state level, the ministry always hold on to the principle that welfare is ‘colour blind’.
