Swinburne launches July intake for foundation study
KUCHING: Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus has launched a July intake for its Foundation course to commence this July 16.
“Over the last few years, we observed that students prefer to begin their Pre- University studies in the second half of the year after taking some time off upon completing high school,” commented the university’s Director of Marketing and Student Recruitment Jagdish Singh.
Applications for the July intake can be made online directly with the university or any of the appointed education partners nationwide.
The one-year Foundation course is a pre-university preparatory course which offers students a faster and supportive pathway to pursue undergraduate studies in preferred disciplines.
Foundation courses offered at Swinburne’s Sarawak campus are Business, Engineering and Science, IT and Multimedia, and Design. Grounded in real world scenarios, these courses equip students with the essential academic and communication skills as well as critical and analytical thinking skills necessary to succeed in tertiary studies.
Its core units encourage creativity and innovation, while its stream- specific units develop further understanding of the majors available.
Coupled with Swinburne’s experienced lecturers and well- equipped classrooms and laboratories for engineering, science and computing, students get a well-rounded education that prepares them for undergraduate study.
Swinburne’s Foundation studies in Business can lead to majors in accounting, finance, accounting and finance (double major), human resource management, international business, management, management and digital media (double major), or marketing.
Foundation in Information Technology and Multimedia prepares students for further studies in information and communication technology (majoringinsoftwaretechnologyor network technology), or computer science (majoring in software development, cybersecurity or Internet of Things).
Students who opt to study Foundation in Engineering and Science will be equipped with knowledge and skills for further studies in biotechnology, and various engineering fields such as civil, civil and business (double major), chemical, electrical and electronic, mechanical, robotics and mechatronics, or robotics and mechatronics and computer science (double major).
Students keen to pursue their undergraduate studies in multimedia design can choose to build their foundation with the Foundation studies in Design.
Swinburne offers higher education that is uniquely Australian with degrees that are recognised worldwide. Both campuses deliver identical programmes and teaching materials, and testamurs are awarded by the Australian campus.
Financial assistance or scholarships are offered by state and government-linked agencies such as PTPTN, MARA, Yayasan Sarawak, or private and charitable bodies.
