Cybersecurity can play bigger role in Malaysia
KUALA LU M P U R : Cybersecurity can play a bigger role in creating a more competitive and secure business environment in Malaysia, said Dr Rajni Goel, Professor of Information Systems and Supply Chain Management at Howard University.
She said cybersecurity was an important factor for business growth in the era of digital economy, noting that there was a high level of awareness and interest in cybersecurity in the country.

Goe l was one of the speakers at the recently held American Malaysian Chamber of Commerce ( AMCHAM) – US As e an Bus ine s s Council ( USABC) Speaker Series, supported by the US Embassy.
Ame r i c a n industry experts spoke on topics of bilateral importance, while other experts showcased the best of US technology, innovat ion and business practices.
Speaking to Bernama in an interview recently, Goel said she was impressed by the degree of openness in learning and sharing of knowledge in working towards a safer cyber community.
On business in the era of digital economy, she sa id ent repreneurs and c ompanie s cou ld t a ke advantage of cloud computing plat forms to expand their businesses and be innovative.
She said small and medium enterprises lacked capital to invest on cybersecurity, and cloud computing providing top notch security that a physical local ised system would not be able to do so.
Cloud also made data sharing easier, and provided companies with the f lexibility, agility and scalabil ity to expand their business, she added. — Bernama
