Dayak ladies to get to­gether at Gawai

MIRI: About 200 Dayak ladies will gather at Dy­nasty Ho­tel tonight (June 15) to cel­e­brate Gawai Dayak.

The Gawai Dayak Get-To­gether is or­gan­ised by the Orang Ulu Ladies Group Miri.

Ac­cord­ing to the or­gan­is­ing chair­lady Ki­jan Toyn­bee, the gath­er­ing of­fers an op­por­tu­nity for guests to get closer to one another and cel­e­brate the fes­tive oc­ca­sion.

To be held at the Dy­nasty Ho­tel ball­room at 6.30pm the din­ner is ex­pected to be graced by Te­lang Usan assem­bly­man Den­nis Ngau.

“Var­i­ous pro­grammes have been planned for the night, es­pe­cially cul­tural pro­grammes, as Gawai Dayak is also a cel­e­bra­tion of mul­tira­cial and mul­ti­cul­tural di­ver­sity,” said Ki­jan.

Among the pro­grammes planned for the din­ner are Datun Ju­lut dance, sape per­for­mance and Leko­biat dance.

“There will also be lucky draw offering var­i­ous at­trac­tive prizes,” said Ki­jan, adding that the gath­er­ing is also an an­nual event by the Orang Ulu Ladies Group Miri.
