Police: Observe traffic rules when driving home for Raya

-

LIMBANG: Road users particularly those returning home for Hari Raya are reminded not to make the road as their racing track.

Instead, they should adhere strictly to the highway code so as to prevent any untoward incident, advised Limbang district police chief Supt Mohd Bukhori Saffai.

“Drive safely and have a joyous Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration. Comply strictly with traffic regulations and be extra careful especially in congested roads especially at the borders so as to avoid untoward incident and casualty,” he said when contacted yesterday.

He pointed out that three cases of fatal accidents involving motorcyclists had occurred during the current Ramadan month in Limbang.

On the need for those returning to their villages for the Hari Raya celebration to notify the police station to keep watch over their homes, he said the number was very low.

“Last year, we only received five such notifications from people going back for the celebration.

“It is very sad although such notification is important to prevent theft when the house owners are away on vacation or returning to their hometowns,” he said.

He advised those leaving their home for long period for vacation to install lights outside their houses, avoid storing sharp weapons outdoors and inform their neighbours and the police station of their absence to keep watch over their homes.
