Teenager ar­rested for in­tim­i­dat­ing oc­cu­pants

MIRI: Po­lice ar­rested a lo­cal teenager who threat­ened oc­cu­pants of a rented house in Jalan Teru­san Pu­jut here last Mon­day.

The 16-year-old male sus­pect was ar­rested at 10.25pm on Wed­nes­day by a team of po­lice from Miri po­lice head­quar­ters’ crime in­ves­ti­ga­tion de­part­ment. He has been re­manded for three days to fa­cil­i­tate po­lice in­ves­ti­ga­tions.

Miri po­lice chief ACP Lim Meng Seah con­firmed the ar­rest and said the sus­pect is be­ing in­ves­ti­gated un­der Sec­tion 506 of the Pe­nal Code for crim­i­nal in­tim­i­da­tion.

Ac­cord­ing to a 39-year-old ten­ant and com­plainant, the sus­pect who is be­lieved to be a grand­son of the land­lord came to the house around 1am on Mon­day and started to dis­rupt the peace and mak­ing noise around the house by break­ing the house win­dows and smash­ing bot­tles.

The ten­ants con­tacted po­lice who ar­rived shortly af­ter the in­ci­dent.

It is learnt that the sus­pect had also threat­ened to bring his friends to burn the house down.
