Teenager arrested for intimidating occupants
MIRI: Police arrested a local teenager who threatened occupants of a rented house in Jalan Terusan Pujut here last Monday.
The 16-year-old male suspect was arrested at 10.25pm on Wednesday by a team of police from Miri police headquarters’ crime investigation department. He has been remanded for three days to facilitate police investigations.
Miri police chief ACP Lim Meng Seah confirmed the arrest and said the suspect is being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation.
According to a 39-year-old tenant and complainant, the suspect who is believed to be a grandson of the landlord came to the house around 1am on Monday and started to disrupt the peace and making noise around the house by breaking the house windows and smashing bottles.
The tenants contacted police who arrived shortly after the incident.
It is learnt that the suspect had also threatened to bring his friends to burn the house down.
