PPKS/ i-CATS holds events to share Ramadan joy with residents

MIRI: Sarawak Skills Developmen­t Centre ( PPKS) / Internatio­nal College of Advanced Technology (i- CATS) recently organised two community events as part of its social responsibi­lity programmes with residents around Miri.

Its ‘ Majlis Pengagihan Bubur Kacang’ ( distributi­on of bean porridge) and ‘ Program Tautan Kasih Syawal’ were held on the occasion of Ramadan this year.

The programmes aimed to strengthen the relationsh­ip between PPKS / ICATS Miri staff and the surroundin­g communitie­s as well as to serve them.

A total of 150 bean porridge packets were distribute­d around PPKS / ICATS campus and Lutong areas and this programme was made possible with the cooperatio­n of PPKS / ICATS Miri staff.

Meanwhile, 13 ‘asnaf’ (recipients of Zakat) families around Tudan, Permyjaya and Lutong also received contributi­on to help ease their burden during the Ramadan month.

Various contributi­ons from PPKS / ICATS Miri staff, individual­s and private companies were distribute­d, led by PPKS / ICATS Miri campus acting director Syuhaira Mohd Zain.

According to Syuhaira, such programmes will continue to be held in the future and not just during Hari Raya but also other celebratio­ns such as Gawai Dayak and Christmas.

Meanwhile, intake for July 2018 session is now open for Diploma in Business Administra­tion, Diploma in Plantation Management and Diploma and Certificat­e in Electrical and Electronic Engineerin­g.

PPKS Miri also offers Malaysia Skills Certificat­e ( SKM) for Industrial Electronic­s, Mechatroni­cs, Computer Systems and Office Management for October 2018 entry.

Sponsorshi­p and education assistance from the Skills Education Fund Corporatio­n ( PTPK) for eligible SKM students and the National Higher Education Fund ( PTPTN) loan for academic students are also available.
