OUM Miri cen­tre pre­pares, dis­trib­utes ‘bubur lam­buk’

MIRI: Open Univer­sity Malaysia ( OUM) Miri Learn­ing Cen­tre held a CSR pro­gramme to dis­trib­ute ‘bubur lam­buk’ to the public at its cen­tre here re­cently.

Its di­rec­tor Zu­liana Muk­tar said the ac­tiv­ity in­volved staff, stu­dent clubs and stu­dents of OUM Miri. A to­tal of 200 packs of por­ridge were dis­trib­uted to the public within an hour.

“This ac­tiv­ity aimed at cel­e­brat­ing the month of Ra­madan as well as main­tain­ing re­la­tion­ship be­tween staff, stu­dents and the public.

“This is the first time we cooked por­ridge at OUM Miri and it was cooked by our staff and the stu­dents them­selves,” she said in a state­ment yes­ter­day.

The univer­sity also held a break­ing of fast and ‘ tarawikh’ prayers which were at­tended by 50 peo­ple in­clud­ing res­i­dents of Kam­pung Riam Jaya near here.

“The month of Ra­madan en­ables us to ex­pe­ri­ence what the dis­ad­van­taged peo­ple are ex­pe­ri­enc­ing where they have to en­dure hunger and thirst.

“There­fore, we need to be grate­ful for the bless­ings that Al­lah has be­stowed upon us,” she said.
