LIMBANG: An Indonesian worker was injured after he was set upon by a group of his fellow countrymen at a Kubong Road oil palm plantation on Thursday.

Limbang District police chief Supt Mohd Bukhori Saffai said the 44-year-old from Lombok was assaulted by five co-workers after a heated argument at 10.20pm.

“The victim sustained bodily injuries, including a bruise on his forehead, swollen right eye, and cuts on his right arm, as well as pain around the ribs and right shoulder,” Mohd Bukhori told the media yesterday.

He said initial investigation showed the incident was due to dissatisfaction surrounding how the victim managed a retail shop owned by his relatives.

The victim also incurred losses totalling RM300 during the incident.

“Following the incident, the victim was brought to the emergency department of Limbang Hospital and later to the Limbang Central police station to lodge a report on the incident for further action,” he said.
