KPDNKK acted on 22 cases of various offences committed under Hari Raya Aidilfitri 2018 Price Control Scheme

SIBU: The Ministry of Domestic Trade, Cooperativ­es and Consumeris­m ( KPDNKK) has inspected 3,901 premises across Sarawak and took action on 22 cases for various offences committed under Hari Raya Aidilfitri 2018 Price Control Scheme.

The 15- day price- control festive scheme was enforced from June 8 till yesterday.

Sarawak KPDNKK deputy director Md Nawawi Ab Rahman said: “The total value of goods confiscate­d was RM2,132.20 while compound collected was RM2,500.”

“From the 22 cases, 10 cases violated Order 2(1) of the Price Control and Anti- Profiteeri­ng ( Price Marking of Price Controlled Goods) Order ( No. 2) 2018 while 12 cases contravene­d Order 3(1) of the Price Control Order ( Indication of Price by Retailer) 1993.”

When giving the breakdown of the cases, Md Nawawi, who is also state KPDNKK chief enforcemen­t officer disclosed that 602 premises were inspected in Kuching and they acted on nine cases.

Goods worth RM518.20 were seized and RM900 compound collected.

As for Miri, he said 274 premises were checked with four cases of non- compliance.

Goods worth RM509.00 were confiscate­d and RM400 in compound collected.

A total of 317 premises in Limbang were inspected to see whether they had complied with the festive price- control scheme.

Two cases were acted on with goods seizure valued at RM369 while RM200 compound was collected.

Md Nawawi said in Lawas, 189 premises were inspected and action taken on three cases for flouting the scheme.

Goods worth RM376 were confiscate­d while the compound amount was RM300.

Over in Bintulu, 533 premises were inspected and two cases of non- compliance were acted on with seized goods valued at RM292 and RM300 compound collected.

Elsewhere in Sri Aman, KPDNKK officers checked 302 premises and took action on two cases.

Total goods seizure was valued at RM68 while the compound amount of RM400 collected.

In Sibu, 808 premises were inspected, Kapit ( 330), Sarikei ( 301) and Mukah ( 245) but all did not register any case of noncomplia­nce.
