Four accused freed on bail till trial date

MIRI: The Magistrate’s Court has set Aug 14 for the trial of four men accused of causing hurt to three brothers here.

All the accused were each released on RM2,500 bail with one local surety while awaiting the trial date.

Thian Ming Hong and Altobellie Petrus from Chieng Son Garden, Jalan Riam; Bong Pam Shen from Jalan Batu Kawa, Kuching and Pook Yik Chung from Taman Tunku here were charged under Section 324 of the Penal Code, together with Section 34 of the same code.

If found guilty, they can be jailed up to 10 years or fined or whipped or any two of the punishment­s mentioned.

Based on the facts of the case, the four accused allegedly caused hurt to three siblings Tsen Fang Yung ( 21), Tsen Fang Wang ( 27) and Tsen Fang Phang (26) with a metal chair at 10.15pm on May 7 at an open air market here.

Earlier, prosecutin­g officer ASP Mary Ong applied for a new date for further trial as all the accused are young and they had maintained their not guilty plea.

Magistrate Zuraini Ali Musa presided over the case.
